Today I starting making my front cover at first I wasn't
sure how to use Photoshop as this was the first time making a music magazine, I
with a making a cover based on a Rap magazine already made. The cover did not
come out how I wanted as I copy&pasted the text from cooltext, I asked my
teacher what grade the cover would get and he responded saying that the work I
was doing would get given a E so I started the cover again. I learnt from my
mistakes and watched a video on youtube showing me how to use Photoshop which I
later downloaded at home; this Photoshop is the latest version. The video
showed me how to make the pages and I started again, this time I hope I can
make my front cover will be at a grade C work.

Costume/Props Planning
These are 2 videos that have inspired the look and dress of my artists because of the origins of the rappers/artist.Videos have shown me that Snap Backs , Jumpers and Air focuses are all popular for London based artist to wear in a music video and that the talk or use of drugs is very popular as you watch the video they both talk about the struggle to make money on the streets of London is hard so they show off what they have such as gold chains. Overall I feel that I should use two male artist as the rap game has more recognized male artists then female with snap backs on , a gold chain and air focuses. This is what I imagine my artist to wear on my magazine.

Magazine questionnaire
Now that I have looked at different rap magazines, I have to make a questionnaire that will help me in my research, just like you would do in a business. We were asked to make a questionnaire on word document (which can be seen below) and then input this information onto SurveyMonkey. I have came up with 8 questions which are specific to my rap magazine and have given my questionnaire to people via twitter and facebook to answer. My main aim is to get 20 replies but will be happy with 10 before the deadline occurs.
This is my survey. Feel free to fill it in.

XXL Magazine Analysis
The XXL masthead is one of the most generic conventions of this magazine. A red background and large white text placed in the top left hand corner of every issue of the magazine. This allows readers to build familiarity with the magazine and creates an expectation for every issue. Because of this, it is not always necessary to have the entire masthead showing the central image as they recognise the brand. An issue will usually feature one individual, usually male, however once in a while multiple figures or a woman might feature on the front cover. Through costuming e.g. jewellery and expensive clothes to display the wealth of the industr, facial expressions such as aggressive and superiority to display artist’s egos and poses, XXL manage to create and maintain a hip-hop stereotype which has up customer loyalty. Customer loyalty is further maintained by keeping attributes similar from issue to issue. Large writing of the artists name and clear features of what the magazine includes are replicated on every XXL cover. Because of the font, colour and presentation of the artist that generally connotes a "gangster" image, I’m able to infer that the magazine is aimed at a male audience ranging from teenage years to late forties as the artists are around this age. XXL magazines feature in-depth interviews and articles about both prestigious and new artists, all of which are usually male. the magazine often features picture flash cars are women as this appeals to the general male audience. XXL will also try and reach out to the growing female audience by breaking the convention of a male central figure and having a female feature instead. Featured articles such as ‘eye candy’ may also attract females – presumably of a young age, however in regards to the front cover, women are presented heavily sexualised and seen to have on minimal clothing, suggesting that a broader male audience may be targeted more than encouraging a female audience.

Researching Genres
This is a power point showing my research on genres as this will help me chose what genre is best for me to make my magazine. I had to research genres which I wouldn't normally read which allowed me to gain knowledge on other genres, such as classical. Having this know will allow me to know what is best for my target audience so I meet their needs.

Risk Assessment
The link below shows the risk assessment, which outlines all the possible risks that can occur on a photo shoot and I explain the risk, how it can be avoided and at the end I will review the risk. I had to think hard about what things could happen while taking pictures as I wanted my pictures to come out perfect.
Production Log
This is my first production log and I feel that the task set is quite challenging as I need to plan all my research for my magazine, this will include mood boards, questionnaires and feedback from my target audience. I believe that with planing my final magazine will have the conventions which you will find in a typical hip hop magazine. My first bit of research and planning was to make a mood board.
First Thoughts in Response to the Task Set
My first thoughts on the task set was to find what genre I was going to base my magazine on. I was trilled and excited to create a music magazine as I enjoy music. Overall creating a music magazine will be hard and difficult as I have never done media before but overtime I know I will overcome any challenges that I will face and will be able to make an amazing magazine.

This is an image that will represent the school as it clearly shows it the school crest and motto.
This is a still image of a student playing football. it is a wide shot and has very good lighting.
This student is playing a guitar, the student is always smartly dressed showing that he is serious about school
